Leicester City full-back Danny Simpson denied reports of player unrest, insisting his team-mates are fighting for manager Claudio Ranieri as the Premier League champions continue to struggle.
The fairytale of sport final year, Leicester have failed to attain these lofty heights once again, with Ranieri and Co. languishing just a point above the relegation zone.
Leicester have lost 4 consecutive Premier League fixtures following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at dwelling to Manchester United, sparking speculation that Ranieri may well be beginning to shed the dressing room.
Having said that, Simpson backed his Italian boss, confident Leicester can turn points about, starting in Wednesday’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Derby County.
“Because of our situation, that is the papers trying to stir the pot,” Simpson said.
“Look in the performance [in the 3-0 loss to United]. Up till 42 minutes we were solid, we have been fantastic, every person was fighting.
“You can see in the efficiency on the pitch the lads are attempting, and that is certainly that.
“We knew it wasn’t going to become like last season however it is tougher than we thought.”
Simpson added: “The excellent point is we’ve got been right here ahead of, we have been right here two years ago.
“The majority from the squad were right here two years ago. In that respect we’ve knowledge in that. The players who had been here then can help a number of the other lads by way of, and we are going to pull together.”
